There really is no way to verify an unbroken link even if ninja became part of secret societies, unless they have full documentation that can stand up to independent scrutiny. Kuden (oral tradition) makes it very difficult to trace.

And though it may be possible that ninja evolved into being part of secret societies, the same remains – they are no longer ninja according to how the historical texts imply what ninja were. The Shoninki, for instance, emphasises that ninja were not criminals – and if there are secret societies with ninja descendants, I’m not too sure what use and purpose they’d serve. Even positive vigilantism is an extremely debatable topic.

Have you considered that ‘mafia’ groups / secret societies would be the only way for a true lineage? If so, we would have no knowledge. I mean it is logical that this would be the last refuge, the only mention of this I have heard is from a quacked up guy … http://projectcamelot.org/lang/en/benjamin_fulford_interview_transcript_1_en.html – not saying that guy knows anything but surely if ninja did still exist, they would not disclose their existence/lineage!!
